I recently accepted the offer to be the editor for the Northwest Watercolor Society Newsletter, Hot Press.
I joined the Northwest Watercolor Society quite a few years ago but my only involvement for the first few years was to read the newsletter. Every issue urged me to pick up my brush, to go to more exhibits, to get more involved in the art community. Finally, in 2008, I went to my first NWWS exhibit and was so inspired by it that the next day I called the NWWS president to see if there were any volunteer opportunities for me to get involved with the organization. There were.
Since that time, I’ve come to know an inspired, strong, dedicated group of artists who persistently work to make the organization the success it is. I found encouragement, advice, inspiration and friendship.
Remarkably, I now find myself at the helm of the newsletter that for years has stirred me to be more involved with my own artwork and with other artists. I’m honored!
I encourage you to get involved in organizations that interest you or in your community. What you get back is so much more than what you put in!
Beauty everywhere!
